About the event
Workshop description: In this workshop we will discuss the basics of natural dyes, mordants, ethical foraging, and creating watercolors. We’ll discuss common native and invasive plants in our region, as well as kitchen waste, as sources of dye materials. Participants will forage their own materials on the farm, draw in the fields of Reno Food Systems, and watercolor with botanical pigments. Each person will dye a bandana (provided by RFS) and take it home with their watercolor art. Participants need to bring a jar with a lid to take their bandana home from the workshop. Gloves are not required for handling the materials, but participants who wish to bring their own are welcome to do so.
Participants need to bring a jar with lid so they can take home some dye!
