What We Do
We work together to care for the land, each other and future generations.
Guided by many motivating factors including environmental stewardship and regenerative agriculture, community engagement and advocacy for food equity, regional economic stimulation and growth, and personal & community health and wellness; we are dedicated to working towards our vision of a vibrant, resilient, and just local food system cultivated by an empowered community.
What is a
Food System?
Food System (noun): A food system encompasses the intricate web of people, processes, and infrastructure dedicated to nourishing a community. It serves as the conduit guiding food from farm to table and back to the land. Whether global or local, all food systems share a common set of elements.

Our Local Food System
Community Partners
Reno Food Systems is proud to collaborate with community partners who either purchase our locally grown produce or help support us in our mission to foster sustainable agriculture
and provide fresh, healthy food to our community.
We thank you for supporting us and our community's local food system!
What We Believe
We believe there is little else that is more important than local food systems.
Food production is so foundational in feeling safe, in health & healing and in caring for our earth (1/3 of emissions are due to the unhealthy outputs of
the Industrial Ag Food Systems).

We feel privileged that we get to do this important work. As we grow as an organization, we have consistently found four repeating areas of key importance and have created programming around each one to be able to prioritize our efforts and share our passions with you.
Our Programs
We focus on four program areas to ensure access to fresh, healthy, locally grown food for everyone:
1) land stewardship 2) food equity 3) education and 4) our budding arts and healing programming. For more details about each one, please click the buttons below.
Grantors
We have been and are currently (partially) funded from a diverse set of grantors and foundations- including but not limited to the Mathewson Foundation, Orchard Tree Foundation, USDA, NDA, NRCS, the Nevada Division of Forestry, the City of Reno & Patagonia.
These grants have provided essential financial support to our projects and initiatives,
enabling us to work towards our mission & goals.
We deeply appreciate this funding that has- and continues to- contribute to strengthening and revitalizing Reno's Local Food System.
Support Our Programming
Reno Food Systems relies on tax-deductible donations to fund our programs, and we always need volunteers. Please visit the click here to learn more about how you can best support us.
It takes a village to build a food system, and it takes all kinds!
